Our agricultural business is the cultivation of cherries. With a keen eye, you will find many wild animals and insects in our orchards.
We actively support songbird and bat projects on the farm.
Some sheep, goats and rabbits still live on our land.
We gave up our livestock farming in the 1990s. We no longer keep animals. Nowadays, this has been taken over by highly specialized farms, which are generally not designed for tourism. Today, "milking cows" is done by milking robots in industrial-like facilities.
"Show animal husbandry" or "petting zoo" / "animals to touch" has become too controversial for us these days and we have decided to give it up .
In the immediate vicinity of us (10 min) is the wildlife park Sonnhalde. The entrance is free, you walk on natural paths with a beautiful panoramic view and experience tens of animal species up close. In the wildlife park Locherholz there are mouflon, fallow deer as well as wild boars and designated hiking trails.
We ourselves do not offer horseback riding. In the immediate vicinity there are several horse farms with riding facilities that specialize in this.
We actively support the NABU Ravensburg. In cooperation with the NABU Ravensburg we implement projects such as a settlement of the white stork, the house martins and other songbirds on our farm.
We offer wild bees a habitat through the installation of nesting aids, which at the same time supports the pollination of the cherry blossoms. Here you can find more information and projects of NABU Ravensburg and how you can actively support the work of NABU Ravensburg.
As part of a bat project , we are helping to expand the habitat for bats by installing bat boxes and a butterfly- and insect-friendly dry stone wall.
Please also note that because we are close to nature, we may also have a lot of insects that can get lost in your home. One of the aims of the wooden cladding on our façades is to provide shelter for animals and insects, which in turn provide food for bats. Animals such as frogs can also get lost on your terrace. No need to panic.
